Itinerary Overview Day 1: - Port Arthur. Start your trip with a visit to the Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur Historic Site. Learn about the life of a convict in a place once considered "Hell on Earth". View Port Arthur from a harbour cruise, then return to Hobart via Richmond. Overnight: Hobart (L) Day 2: - Freycinet. Head for the beaches today via a short stop at Ross. At Freycinet National Park, admire the world-famous Wineglass Bay. Finish the day in Bicheno, home to the Little Penguins who return to their rookeries each night. Overnight: Bicheno (B, L) Day 3: - Bay of Fires. Soak up the coastal scenery from Bicheno to St Helens. Stretch your legs with a peaceful beach walk at the Bay of Fires. Visit the rainforest waterfall at St Columba Falls, before heading into Launceston. Overnight: Launceston (B, L) Day 4: - Tarkine. Explore the remote wilderness of the Tarkine region in Tasmania's far northwest. Visit the Julius River Reserve rainforest walks. Peer over the edge of the world and feel the elements of the rugged and remote west coast. Overnight: Stanley (B,L) Day 5: - Stanley. Climb Stanley's famous rock "The Nut". Table Cape provides stunning views over the northwest, so take your camera. Head to Cradle Mountain via picturesque farmland and mountain roads. Overnight: Cradle Mountain (B, L) Day 6: - Cradle Mountain. Spend the day at Cradle Mountain exploring some of the numerous walks within the world heritage listed national park. Take a stroll around Dove Lake, or head off to Marion's Lookout or one of the many other great walks. Overnight: Strahan (B,L) Day 7: - Strahan. Climb Henty Sand Dunes and stroll along Ocean Beach with nothing but the wild "Roaring Forties" between you and South America. Optional Gordon River Cruise or scenic flight. Visit Nelson Falls, and Franklin River. Overnight: Lake St Clair (B) Day 8: - Mt Field. Visit Australia’s deepest freshwater lake, and a chance to spot that elusive platypus. Visit Mt Field NP, and photogenic Russell Falls. Relax on your way back to Hobart through the picturesque Derwent Valley. Finish the tour in Hobart (B, L)
