Itinerary Overview Day 1: Start your day with a visit to Richmond, then to the photogenic Tasman Peninsula for views over the Southern Ocean. Explore one of Tassie's toursit hotspots, the Port Arthur Historic Site. Learn about the life of a convict in a place once considered "Hell on Earth". View Port Arthur from a harbour cruise. This afternoon we will visit the Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park to see and learn about the unique Tassie Devils. Overnight: Hobart Day 2: Head for the beaches today via a short stop at the historic town of Ross. At Freycinet National Park, admire the world-famous Wineglass Bay. Finish the day in Bicheno, home to the Little Penguins who return to their rookeries each night. Overnight: Bicheno Day 3: Soak up the coastal scenery along one of Australia's greatest journeys from Bicheno to St Helens. Stretch your legs with a peaceful beach walk at the Bay of Fires. Visit the rainforest waterfall at St Columba Falls, before heading into the pretty and colourful city of Launceston. Overnight: Launceston (B) Day 4: Go west and spend the day at Cradle Mountain exploring some of the numerous walks within the World Heritage Listed National Park. Take a stroll around Dove Lake, or head off to Marion's Lookout or one of the many other great walks. Overnight: Cradle Mountain (B) Day5: With the extensive range of walks available here, you will appreciate some more time in the Cradle Valley before making our way to Strahan and the west coast. Climb the impressive Henty Sand Dunes and stroll along Ocean Beach with nothing but the wild "Roaring Forties" between you and South America. Overnight: Strahan (B) Day 6: Traverse the island from west to east. Enter the temperate time capsule that is the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. Visit Australia’s deepest freshwater lake, Lake St Clair and a chance to spot that elusive platypus. Visit Mt Field NP, and walk in the land of the giants and admire the beauty of Russell Falls. Relax on your way back to Hobart through the picturesque Derwent Valley. Overnight: Hobart (B) Day 7: Today we journey to the "end of the road" as we make our way through the Huon Valley and south to Cockle Creek at the edge of Recherech Bay. Here is the Southwest National Park and the southern most road in Australia. We can take a walk to Fishers Point and learn of the whales that frequent these parts. Enjoy the serenity that this bay provides or enjoy a quick swim before a short drive to Hastings Cave where we take a guided tour. The chance exists here for a swim in the thermal pool before returning to Hobart. Overnight: Hobart Day 8: Our Tour today is a true highlight. We travel by road to Kettering and then by ferry accross to Bruny Island and Adventure Bay. Here we board a purpose built vessel to explore the rugged coastline of Bruny Island and its spectacular sea cliffs. Here we commonly encounter the regions remarkable wildlife such as the Seabirds, Seals, Dolphins and Whales whilst migrating. Back at Adventure Bay we have some lunch and relax before heading back to Hobart. (Lunch included)
