What sort of meals do we have?
For breakfast we supply cereals, toast, tea & coffee. If there's something you can't do without, just bring it with you! Please advise your dietary requirements at the time of booking

Are lunches and dinners included?
We believe that our guests prefer to do their own thing for lunch and dinners. We allow them their own space each day to dine out and enjoy the local fare and provide recommendations, and we also assist by taking guests to the local supermarket to purchase items that can be prepared in the kitchen at each hostel, either individually or as a group.

What sort of accommodation is included?
Accommodation included in the base tour price is for a dormitory room in a hostel. The places we use throughout Tasmania are small, quiet and comfortable and we place our guests in same sex dormitory rooms. If you prefer more privacy and or comfort, you can request a private twin/double or single room for additional cost. These private rooms are subject to availability at the time of booking.

How many people will be in my room?
Dormitory rooms used on our Original Tours are generally 4-8 beds (same sex rooms).
On our nature-based tours, a twin room is designed to cater for two people in separate beds, double refers to two people sharing one bed.  Hostels in our Original program have shared facilities, whereas hotels/motels used for our Nature-based tours have private facilities.

What should I bring with me?
On our Original program, please bring a towel, however you do not require a sleeping bag as all linen is provided.
For all tour programs, bring a warm jacket, rain jacket, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, swimming gear, beanie, scarf and gloves (winter tours), camera, personal toiletries, comfortable walking shoes and change of shoes for evenings.

I have a copy of the brochure, are the prices still current?
As you can imagine, brochures travel far and wide and as much as we try to keep up to date, there are always some out od date brochures.  Our current prices are those that are displayed on this website.  If you're unsure about prices please don't hesitate to contact us to check.

I'm travelling to Australia for a holiday, do I need a visa to come to Tasmania?
You don't need a special visa to visit Tasmania, as a state of Australia, we have the same requirements of every other state.  For international visitors, except New Zealanders, you will need to have a Visa to travel to Australia. Flights to Tasmania are considered as domestic flights, and as such there are no customs or visa requirements at all, you simply need photo ID and get to the terminal early enough to check in.

What can I bring into Tasmania and take out?
Tasmania has some of the world's most stringent quarantine regulations. Please help us retain Tasmania's disease-free status by ensuring that when you visit us you are not carrying or importing any restricted items. The introduction of a pest or disease into a production area can result in expensive controls being implemented and loss of markets, which can cost primary industries and the community millions of dollars.  For detailed information before you pack, visit http://www.dpiw.tas.gov.au/inter.nsf/WebPages/EGIL-56FW46?open

How much luggage can I bring?
We recommend you stick to a limit of one 20kg (max) suitcase or backpack which will travel in the rear or trailer and may not be easily accessible during the day.  You are also welcome to bring along 1 day bag with a limit of 7kg on board the vehicle.

Included attractions
We've created itineraries that include some of the best places in Tasmania and we list as many of those in our itineraries as we can. Sometimes it's simply not possible for us to stick to the itinerary - the group deciding to include something that wasn't in the itinerary; or some such thing. Please understand that our driver guides do their absolute best to ensure you get the most out of each day and that you make it into the town you are staying each evening at a reasonable hour.

What else will I have to pay for on tour?
Aside from allowing you to provide your own food at lunch and dinner time, everything else is included in the tour price.  There is no fuel levy and your National Parks fees are also included.

Wild Adventure Activities
For those adventure seekers, opportunity and time can be available to join other Tasmanian operators for optional fun activities before and after you tour. Pedal, paddle, climb, cave, fly, dive!  Just ask us when you call to book, or go through the options with your guide who will help with recommendations.

Bush Walks
Tasmania is renowned for its world class bushwalks, from 10 minute walks to 30 days!! Under Down Under offer the chance to undertake a number of guided bushwalks on all tours from the shortest 5 minute walk up to two/three hours on good quality tracks. If you haven't done too many walks as yet, don't worry - we will look after you!  The walks we suggest are all on regular trails giving you the chance to touch the wilderness and learn why this nature business is pretty important to us all! If you feel the need to go a bit harder, you may be able to do some free walking at your own risk - just discuss the options with your driver guide and don't miss the bus!!

Is the tour appropriate for children?
Our tours are generally designed for adults, however if you feel your children will mix with the group of international and local travellers of a variety of ages, then we will trust your judgement.  Children under 8 years are not recommended however.  Children 8 - 15 years travel at concession prices.

Do you do private charters?
Personalised group tours can be organised to suit your itinerary and requirements. Speak to our reservations team for your customised quote today.

Do I need to reconfirm my tour?
We'd love it if you could give us a quick call just to let us know that you've made it to Tassie ok, and that we have your pick up location correct.  Please call 1800 064 726 which is a free call from within Australia, If you're leaving us a message, ensure you use your name, the tour you're going on, the day you're departing, your contact number, and of course, where you're getting picked up from.  Try to make your reconfirmation with us 24-48 hours prior to departure.

What time do pick ups commence?
All tours commence at 7.30am.  This means our first pick up is at 7.30am and it may take up to 30 minutes to travel around the city to pick everyone up.  Please don't panic if your driver is not there right on 7.30am, they'll be there the second they can.
